Londoners Malady announce debut EP ‘All Pressure, No Diamonds’, set for release February 10th, and share tantalising lead track ‘Hyperreal’, out today (November 8th) via Modern Sky.
Newly confirmed to support indie titans Wet Leg on their UK tour later this month, the London quartet have also revealed details of their very own headline run in February, lined up to coincide with the arrival of their much anticipated debut EP.
Detailing their upcoming single release, Malady explained: “By now, we all have parasocial relationships with the people on our screens but I always think there’s little to no reason why I should know the ins and outs of the life of someone I haven’t met and will never meet. It’s not far off to suggest that many people, including myself, get to a point of intoxication with the idea of certain people through how they’ve portrayed themselves online. They become “more real than real” and the distinction of who they actually are is lost, therein lies the phenomenon of liking the popularity and simulacra of the person rather than the actual person. So basically, this is a song about needing to touch grass”.
With dates already notched up alongside English Teacher, Opus Kink and Hotel Lux in recent times, the group’s soaring live reputation has seen them firmly secure their place amongst the emerging indie elite, with significant praise across the press landscape (Stereogum, NME, The Sunday Times, So Young, DIY, Loud & Quiet, Dork, Clash, Gigwise, Notion) and countless spins on the BBC Radio 1/BBC 6 Music airwaves accompanying their first three singles.
Malady’s ‘Hyperreal’ is out now via Modern Sky and available on all digital platforms.
Malady is Percy Junior Cobbinah (vocals, guitarist), Khaleem Richards (bassist), Charlie Clark (guitarist, synths), Ashley Noel-Hirst (drums)
