Make Friends are the BEST band in Bristol, right now"
Adam Crowther (BBC Introducing in the West)
"Make Friends, "Falter" I LOVE the production on the song, there's something really dreamy about it and just all of those parts just sit really really well together and it just makes the song pop for me."
Gemma Bradley (BBC Introducing on Radio 1)
"What a tune that is... get BIG Everything Everything vibes from that tune as well, such a fan of that"
James Threfall (BBC Introducing in the West)
Following on from the release of their highly-praised EP 'Is This Real' in 2021, which was supported by BBC Radio 1's Introducing Show with Gemma Bradley, countless DSPs and drew tastemaker media support from the likes of CLASH, Under The Radar, WONDERLAND, The Independent, Daily Star and many more, Bristol-based indie outfit Make Friends have now returned to deliver the video for their brand new single "Falter" (stream HERE). The song, produced by Ed Nash (Bombay Bicycle Club) marks an exciting new era for the Bristol band.
"Falter" has already seen BBC Introducing support across BBC Introducing in the West (Adam Crowther & James Threfall), BBC Radio 1 (Gemma Bradley) and 6Music (BBC Introducing Mixtape, Rob Adcock).
"Falter was part of a collection of songs we'd previously demoed for our most recent EP", the band explains, "Whilst temporarily left behind, the track wasn't left to gather dust, and was reworked with production by Ed Nash, who helped to flesh the song into it's full-bodied final form. Inspired in part by fractured relationships, 'Falter' focuses on the conversations scarcely communicated, and how that can lead to further dissolution of partnerships, and of one's own sense of self.”
Dispensing hook-laden and infectiously catchy tunes, Make Friends have quickly established themselves as the next frontrunners of the UK indie pop scene. Joining forces with Ed Nash to work on their new material, they are set to mark themselves out as being one of the UK's most exciting musical exports.
Speaking about Make Friends, Nash said, "I can honestly say they are one of the most talented yet most underrated guitar bands in the UK at the moment."
The band will also be embarking on two headline shows in London and Bristol this October. Full info and ticket links can be found below.

Brought together through a shared love of progressive indie-pop, Make Friends formed whilst studying in Bath. The band really found their sound when they migrated a few miles down the road to Bristol and began working with producer Peter Sené, a touring member of Everything Everything and John Grant.
Whilst the band take cues from contemporaries such as Sam Fender and Sundara Karma, their inspiration has always been driven from classics, be that the bass-driven groove of The Police or the atmospheric, chorus guitars of The Cure. Make Friends have never found themselves put into boxes and freedom during their writing has always been important, giving them the space to push boundaries and try something totally new.
With their most recent 3rd body of work 'Is This Real', once again produced with Sené, the band continued to build on the formula that has got them so far, but with the dials turned up universally. The songwriting became more nuanced, the production stepped up and the mixing - courtesy of Invada Studios’, James Trevascus (Beak, Billy Nomates) - gave their music the superior sound it deserved.
To the delight of long-term industry fans James Threlfall (BBC Introducing), Radio X's Jack Wood, who described the track 'Sleep Sound' as his "anthem of the summer" and Amazing Radio DJs Shell Zenner and Charlie Ashcroft, who have continually supported them, playlisting each release from their recent EP 'Is This Real'.
