East London post-punk four piece LUNCH have announced the release of single LUGGAGE CASE on all streaming platforms October 18th, supported by a string of autumn live shows.
LUGGAGE CASE is a partygate protest song written POV as a Tory sneaking booze into the now infamous illegal parties at No. 10. The release is supported by live shows across London and Tunbridge Wells (Sussex Arms, Tunbridge Wells, Oct 20th // Shacklewell Arms, London, Oct 25th // New Cross Inn, London, Dec 6th). Recorded this summer with producer Jake Murray (FOR BREAKFAST, SHTËPI), the band spent several days at Strongroom Studios in Shoreditch (ARCTIC MONKEYS, BECK, MIA) and collaborated with left-of-centre mastering engineer Stephen Kerrison (DITZ, ALCOPOP RECORDS).
LUNCH are a self-penned “party punk” band from East London fusing noisy post-punk with indie and alt rock sounds. Like IDLES taking BLOC PARTY on a white-knuckle joy ride, set to the uncompromising lyrics of SOFT PLAY. With five singles under their belt this year the prolific group have become known across the South of England for their energetic, crowd-invading performances.
"A raucous antidote to the dictates of society" - GOD IS IN THE TV
“Cracking carnage” - SARAH GOSLING (RADIO X)
“Partygate is a bad smell that won’t go away. Just this month Channel 4 turned it into a comedy drama” says lead vocalist Mike Ivens. “When I found out that they used luggage cases to systematically sneak booze into No. 10 while families couldn’t visit their dying relatives, I was immediately compelled to write about it. What goes through the head of someone that fucking cocky?”
With 2023 seeing LUNCH become a featured artist on BBC Introducing London, receive airplay on 6 Music and Radio 1 and play supports including PULLED APART BY HORSES, PANIC SHACK and HOT WAX, the band now launch into autumn with a series of exciting live shows.
