As Laggard, multi-instrumentalist and producer Sean Harper attempts to occupy a void between opposites. Raised in the rural backwaters of Devon, now based in London, his music embodies contrasts of form: confrontational, tectonic groans of noise indebted to the likes of Earth and Godspeed! leave space for the abstractions inherent to British bass music. For Laggard, contextually disparate modes can be bound when mood is viewed not as a decoration upon a structure, but the structure itself. As such, Laggard is defined by its breadth; it represents freedom to evolve.
