Newcastle alt-rockers Jango Flash announce self-titled debut EP, arriving January 19th, and share brand new single ‘Tired Eyes’, out today (October 25th) via Modern Sky (Crawlers, Malady, Cariss Auburn).
Fronted by enigmatic singer Jack Angus Golightly, Jango Flash started as a means of exerting the fringes of his mind through art and music in a time of darkness and societal disillusionment, with the band’s irresistible anthemic sensibilities since attracting widespread praise from key indie champions including The Independent, The Line Of Best Fit, Dork, Clash and Rough Trade.
The group have already ticked off a live session on BBC Radio 1, as well as gaining high approval on the BBC 6 Music (Tom Robinson) and Radio X (John Kennedy) airwaves, whilst on the live front they’ve shared stages with acts such as Eades and Lauran Hibberd. Following their latest release, the quintet are heading out on the road as main support for Swedish band Hearts (ex Catfish and the Bottlemen), with their live schedule set to grow considerably in early 2024 to coincide with their debut EP’s arrival.
Detailing their latest release, frontman Golightly explained: “I was walking back to my flat one day and got talking to a man who ended up telling me about his late wife. She was a local poet whose work traversed observational storytelling and reflections on her own life. After her illness took hold, this man worked tirelessly to compile and publish his wife's work to show the world her beautiful mind. I woke up one morning to a parcel at my door containing her book with a note saying “I hope that this brings you some songwriting inspiration”, so I began writing ‘Tired Eyes’.
Jango Flash’s ‘Tired Eyes’ is out now via Modern Sky and available on all digital platforms.
Jango Flash is Jack Angus Golightly (vocals), Ed Smith (drums), Samuel Frame (Guitar), Louis Gomes (Bass) and Jake Waugh (Guitar)
