East Londoners Human Interest share tantalising new effort ‘All My Friends’, out today (October 19th), marking the final single taken from their ‘Empathy Lives In Outer Space’ (EP), arriving November 24th via Nice Swan Records (Sports Team, Pip Blom, English Teacher).
Partnering with the cult label for next month’s EP release, the emerging outfit have attracted substantial support over the last year following the arrival of debut EP ‘Desire Paths’. Alongside a slew of press support from key indie champions (DIY, Dork, Clash, Loud & Quiet, The Line Of Best Fit, Rough Trade, Gigwise, The Forty-Five), the group have already ticked off prestigious slots with Self Esteem, Dave Rowntree (Blur), Hinds, Vlure, HighSchool and Tribes, as well as multiple spins on the BBC 6 Music, Radio X (playlisted) and Sirius FM airwaves.
Speaking ahead of their single release, Harrison explained: “‘All My Friends’ was one of the first songs written for Human Interest. I was quite depressed at the time but there was a solidarity because it felt like all of my close friends at that point were also really depressed – it was kind of like a gang where the initiation was taking antidepressants.
The song was written when I was cat-sitting at someone’s flat. It came about really quickly and I like it because it takes an introspective subject and makes it not so self-indulgent. When I was living in Margate, doing late nights at The Taproom, there were many lock-ins with different artists trying out new material, and that song was a staple of my set every time.”
Human Interest’s ‘All My Friends’ is out now via Nice Swan Records and available on all digital platforms.
Human Interest is Cat Harrison (lead vocals, guitar), Tyler Damara Kelly (lead vocals, bass), Tyler Evann (backing vocals, guitar), Joe Michelson (drums)
