country: LuxembourgFrancis of Delirium has shared a new single ‘Give It Back to Me’, the latest track taken from upcoming debut album Lighthouse, releasing 22 March via Dalliance Recordings.
‘Give It Back to Me’ is a ready-made Gen-Z anthem. Uplifting and cathartic, the track is expansive in both scope and sound. The exploration of a new, more open and optimistic tone from Francis of Delirium is fully showcased on ‘Give It Back to Me’, as layers of spacious guitars float on powerful, reverberant drums. Jana’s heartfelt vocal performance deals with themes of community, solidarity and times of both needing and offering support. Speaking on the new single, Jana offers:
“‘Give It Back to Me’ was a touchstone for me throughout the album's writing process. The song’s hopefulness and themes of friendship felt pivotal to the album, and after it was written it felt like all the other songs started to make more sense in relation to each other. ‘Give It Back to Me’ revolves around the idea of fostering a community where people support each other whenever possible. When your chips are down you can ask for help and when your chips are up, you can be that pillar of strength for someone else.”
With the release of ‘Give It Back to Me’, Francis of Delirium is one step closer to the release of her highly anticipated debut album Lighthouse, coming 22 March via Dalliance Recordings. With fans at the likes of Pitchfork, Stereogum, KEXP, Clash, Line of Best Fit and many more, Jana has taken up the mantle as the sound of young Luxembourg. She’s putting the tiny country on the musical map and giving a huge shot in the arm to a fledgling scene even younger than she is.
Jana’s incredible journey up until this point has seen her release 3 critically acclaimed EPs, All Change, Wading and The Funhouse. The EPs fizz with raw alt-rock excitement, angst and grunge darkness. Already apparent from the singles released so far from Lighthouse, the sound of the project is shifting to embrace a more vulnerable and open sonic palette, weaving in elements of pop alongside rock to create songs which resonate universally and celebrate the beautiful things of the world. With previous releases ‘Real Love’ and ‘First Touch’ produced by Catherine Marks (Boygenius, Wolf Alice) and the rest of the album self produced with frequent collaborator Chris Hewett, Lighthouse has all the makings of a future classic indie rock record.
The announcement of Lighthouse comes following a busy year of touring with the likes of Soccer Mommy, Briston Maroney, Horsegirl, The Districts and hitting Eurosonic, Iceland Airwaves and Tree Fort Fest, as well as opening for The 1975 and Kings of Leon. n April, May and June, Francis of Delirium will be heading out on their biggest headline tour to date, playing shows across Europe, the UK and North America, including a London headline at Oslo, Hackney on 14 May, as well as a newly announced Luxembourg album release show at Rotondes on 22 March.
