Indietronic Psych Rock from Ireland! This summer sees the release of the debut album The Alchemist from Irish indietronic psychrockers EXTRANAUTS. Having caught the ears of Creation Records founder Alan Mcgee who called their single Lazarus 'a modern day classic', the band have amassed an album of anthemic floor fillers.
With a tip of the hat to late 60's psych pop & mod groups like Small Faces and The Kinks, Extranauts are by no means 60's retrospection - “We were heavily influenced by Krautrock bands like NEU! & CAN and that kind of relentless motorik beat but with a lot more melody and emotion on top. New Order have always been a big influence in how they can meld the danceable track with a melancholic track so that was also a big touchpoint” muses lead singer and songwriter Keith O’Neill.
Having started under the moniker The Dead Heavys the band was met with much acclaim by those in the know, among them John Robb (The Guardian/LTW) who noted them as a band that ‘could easily grab the attention of a stadium full of fans or the charts’' , XFM’s Eddy Temple Morris, The Enemy’s Tom Clarke and Jon McClure from Reverend and the Makers.
Producer Jagz Kooner was an ideal fit for the band, having previously worked with Primal Scream, Kasabian & Andrew Weatherall he was able to catch to catch their immense on-stage live energy and describes them as "immensely talented musicians and great song writers - Extranauts really are a very special band"
