ABOUT THIS BAND

Ex en Provence is a collaboration between Songwriters Samuel Deschamps and Jan Blumentrath who met whilst sharing stages and line-ups with their former bands La Shark and the Intergalactic Republic of Kongo / Eliot Sumner.

An instant mutual respect was born from each bands abilities to put on wild and spectacular live shows and after several chats back-stage they decided to meet up.

In their studio, a former jewish gym under a snookerhall in Stoke Newington, they set up a room full of synthesisers and have been dreaming up a new sound ever since.

Since then the two have collaborated regularly as writers and producers for a diverse range of artists.

After 5 years, several hundred Demos and much shapeshifting in style genre and concept, it took a global pandemic and a growing tempestuous climate to discover what the glue was within the project.

Singer, Samuel’s French heritage by way of Marseille and summers of teenage nostalgia inspired the play on words ‘Ex en Provence’ but we intend for the name to ignite the romantic escapism within us all.
