El Hardwick is a musician, multidisciplinary artist and horticulturalist living in London, UK. Identifying as trans non-binary, their work weaves narratives between queer world making practices and how we can heal on a damaged planet.
Their second album 'Process of Elimination' will be released on 27th September 2024 on AD 93. It explores the concept of 'rewilding the self' via El's experience of sickness as a teacher for anti-capitalist modes of being. The album features a number of London-based musicians and friends: Alex McKenzie (Gentle Stranger, Shovel Dance Collective, Caroline) on clarinet, flute and saxophone, Laura Misch on saxophone, Marysia Osu (Levitation Orchestra) on harp, Memory Play on co-production, double bass and saw, and Sasha Wilde on vocals.
In 2020 El released their debut album ‘8’ via 33-33, which envisions a sci-fi narrative at the intersection of climate crisis and digital justice. This was followed by '8 Remixes' in 2022 - featuring reworks from the album by Ciel, Tiiva, 96 Back, Nailah Hunter, Tony Njoku, Laura Misch, gaiko and Memory Play. That same year saw their single 'Body Memory', featuring acclaimed experimental cellist Mabe Fratti, released on Hardwick's own label Desire Lines, which expands upon Hardwick's healing outdoor event series of the same name for disabled and neurodiverse queers and Desire Lines Vol. 1: a charity compilation for QueerCare featuring Mabe Fratti, Nailah Hunter, Arushi Jain and more.
