Dvrkworld is an emerging shoegaze/psych-rock/doom-pop band hailing from Lutruwita/Tasmania. The group initially formed in early 2023 with Mary Shannon (bass/vox) and Drew Farrant-Jayet (guitar/vox). They then enlisted long-time friends and collaborators Shawn Arnold (drums) and Ryan Unger (guitar) to complete the lineup. Dvrkworld’s music is a lush sonic soundscape, blending elements of garage-rock, dream-pop, psychedelic-rock, shoegaze, and grunge. Drawing inspiration from artists like Mazzy Star, Ride, The Black Angels, Swervedriver, and Slowdive, Dvrkworld’s sound is characterised by reverberant melodies, rich-fuzzy guitars, and flowing, rhythmic undercurrents. The steady flow of Dvrkworld’s first releases across 2024, including ‘Lotus’, ‘Bonnie’, ‘Apraxia’ and ‘Sinking Ship’ all received airplay on some of Australia's most well respected community radio stations including Edge Radio, PBS, 4ZZZ and 2SER - with ‘Bonnie’ earning them a #8 spot on the AMRAP Regional Charts for 2 weeks in a row as well as a feature within AMRAP’s 2024 Wrapped editorial. In 2024, the band had the privilege of opening for Internationally acclaimed act Unknown Mortal Orchestra at The Odeon Theatre in Nipaluna/Hobart. The bands upcoming release, ‘Us’ is a sharp, jagged-legged, driving, and rage-infused single, paving the way for the band's debut seven-track EP due for release both digitally and on vinyl on the 28th of March through Psychedelic Salad Records.
