After completely selling out his first two solo headline shows in Berlin within 72 hours, fast-rising bedroom producer DONKEY KID is pleased to reveal the animated video for his new single ‘Necklace’ is out now on all good digital service providers.
The video was made by close friend, 20-year old Bruno Giannori, also born and raised in Berlin, who studies at the art school in Berlin Weißensee, and is a rising talent in his field.
Donkey Kid’s songs all begin life as self-produced lo-fi bedroom demos which he likes to casually release sporadically on his SoundCloud profile. Latest single ‘Necklace’ follows in that tradition, combining a kraut-like bass groove with comic-strip New Wave, evoking comparisons to Talking Heads and La Düsseldorf alike.
The track is already scoring big support from DSPs on the continent, landing on Spotify’s Top 3 at Indie Brandneu (118k), New Music Friday Deutschland (700k), and New Music Friday Switzerland (30k).
‘Necklace’ is the latest single to be taken from his debut EP Distant Shouts released on 20th May 2022 via EUPHORIE, following uptempo smash-hit title track ‘Distant Shouts’.
The EP was produced by Marco Kleebauer, who—having worked on the last two iconic albums of Vienna-based band Bilderbuch and his own successful projects like Leyya—long ago made a name for himself as an indie-pop producer of international merit.
Describing the process, the producer says: “To me, these five songs are a cross-section of last year. They feel like brief insights into different scenes and moments of my life.”
Donkey Kid will also be playing a handful of select live dates in May 2022 including a UK headline date on 20th May 2022 at The Victoria Dalston, London.
