"Dives is one of the most exciting new bands on Vienna's music scene." NPR
“A melodic, harmony-driven slice of laid back, surfer indie-guitar.” Louder Than War
Fresh from dropping an NPR session, Vienna trio DIVES share their second UK single ‘Say’ and announce details of forthcoming album ‘Wanna Take You There’ (14 October via Siluh Records).
New single ‘Say’ is the sound of hazy summer days and wild 70s road trips through Venice beach nostalgia, with DIVES songs an earworm rock ‘n’ roll blend of surf-pop, garage-rock and harmonies a la The Breeders. They tell personal stories with an unflinching honestly, interspersed with echoes of Riot Grrrl ethos in their rallying against discrimination and inequality.
DIVES say of new single ‘Say’, “It's about going in circles with one person over and over again, discussing the same topics, and reaching the limits of the relationship as you realize you can't get out of the cycle even though you like each other so much.”
DIVES formed at Pink Noise Girls Rock Camp in 2016, they have released a debut album ‘Teenage Years Are Over’ (2019, Siluh Records); played over 150 shows across 13 European countries; supported Courtney Barnett and L.A. Witch (among others); headlined Viennese Popfest and performed at Eurosonic, Reeperbahn Festival and c/o pop; accompanied the Vengaboys at the Viennese Ballhausplatz party (celebrating the resignation of Austria’s corrupt right-wing Vice Chancellor Heinz-Christian Starche in 2019); and recently recorded a session for America’s NPR.
‘Say’ is out now with DIVES’ second album ‘Wanna Take You There’ which following on 14 October via Siluh Records.
