COSMIC GLUE RELEASE A LIVE RECORDING OF DIEKAIDIE’S DEBUT SINGLE ‘SWISS ARMY KNIFE’ RECORDED AS PART OF THEIR ANALOGUE DREAMS SESSION AT COSMIC GLUES CREATIVE STUDIOS.
Analogue Dreams is a new series of creative output spawned in Cosmic Glue’s creative studios at Stockport’s Welkin Mill. The series invites artists to perform live sessions recorded in one take, direct to tape.
Conceptualised to capture one unique moment, in one take and with no edits, Analogue Dreams captures the raw unfiltered energy of a live performance.
South City residents Guerrilla Studios provide the project with fully analog recording facilities, utilising traditional reel to reel multitrack recording and vintage outboard hardware, resulting in an authentic and unique audio experience.
Each session is also filmed by Leeds based videographer Misha Warren and pieced together to provide an experience that brings viewers into the room with each artist.
“Intense rhythmic energy paired with unconventional harmony and visceral lyrics.”
Birthed in Manchester out of a shared creative endeavor to blend the popular and the pretty with the abrasive underground, DieKaiDie recently released their eagerly awaited debut single ‘Swiss Army Knife’ via Cosmic Glue.
Having built momentum via a string of shows that have seen the band take to stages at venues throughout Manchester, including: YES, Band on the Wall, Deaf Institute, Castle Hotel and many more, in addition to debut festival performances at bluedot and Kendal Calling 2023, as well as two performances at Brixton’s The Windmill, DieKaiDie have captured a growing anticipation for their debut outing.
Merging genres such as Dance-punk, hyperpop, shoegaze an more which results in heavily processed guitars, abrasive synths and (objectively heretical) drum machine programming, DieKaiDie’s sound is raw and unapologetically abrasive, whilst also offering moments of unconventional harmony amidst hook laden choruses and pop structures.
Always on the side of the extreme, DieKaiDie serve up a barrage of intense rhythmic energy exploring themes from love and religion, to the familiar and mundane.
About their debut ‘Swiss Army Knife’ the DieKaiDie say…
"We think Swiss Army Knife really encapsulates what we aim to achieve as a band. At the heart of it, it’s a pop song, catchy and repetitive, but has the potential to challenge the listener with it’s unconventional sound palette and willingness to lean into abrasiveness."
Drawing from a huge pool of influence, from The Beach Boys to Le Tigre, Pavement to 100 Gecs and Pixies to Nick Drake, creating an alternative sound that occupies a similar musical territory to bands such as Pom Poko and Xiu Xiu.
