“Beautifully hewn shoegaze...rushes past in a whirlwind of sound" Clash
"lucidly psychedelic riffs and pummelling drums" The Line of Best Fit
Returning with their first new music in half a decade, London dream-pop artist Cosmic Strip shares the bittersweet euphoria of new single 'Another Day' - out today (29th November).
Serving up a rousing surge of shoegazing guitars, pounding drums, and ethereal vocals - all culminating in a rapturous, dam-bursting climax - the track also offers one of Cosmic Strip's most deeply personal offerings to date. With its artwork collaged from over a 1000 photographs - dating from band founder Camella Agabalyan's adolescent youth in Hastings - 'Another Day' provides an emotionally-charged reflection on the transience of memory, as Agabalyan herself explains:
"The track is a celebration of the friendships I had living Hastings. It remembers the good times, reflects on how people inevitably drift apart, and mourns those that we have lost along the way. The lyrics are me imagining what it would be like if I were no longer around, and about the memories that I hope we can hold onto.”
Founded as the solo project of French/English artist Camella Agabalyan in 2015 - Cosmic Strip released their debut EP Heavenly back in 2018, finding praise from indie cornerstones Clash, The Line Of Best Fit, Notion and Radio X, and drawing comparisons to the likes of Slowdive, Beach House and Alvvays. Touring the release across the UK, and hitting festival stages at Wilderness, The Great Escape, Bluedot, Kendal Calling and Manchester Psych Fest, Cosmic Strip took an impromptu hiatus due to the restrictions of a global pandemic.
Returning last year for a string of semi-acoustic performances at The Waiting Room in London - Cosmic Strip perform as a full band for the first time in four years playing with Anto-Dust at The Lexington, with plans for further dates in 2024
