Whilst Bingo’s first single ‘Big Rain’ was an inky tale of alienation with a closing-time cabaret charm, the follow-up ‘Happy Snake’ was the sound of a mind unravelling at the seams. His most recent release ‘Birchall & King’s’ was a chaotic whirlwind clocking in at one minute and thirty seconds. The tracks have won support from the likes of BBC 6 Music, Loud and Quiet, DIY, NME and more.
Although very much a solo songwriter, Bingo’s compositional process relies on contributions from his entire band - bassist Megan Jenkins, and drummer Henry Terrett have been playing together since their teens. In one of their various incarnations, they recruited local avant-jazz legend, cornet player Harry ‘Iceman’ Furniss, with guitarist and percussionist Rafi Cohen later completing the line-up.
Bingo Fury’s name is pulled straight from one of his lyric sheets - a perfect representation of the on-the-nose mystique surrounding the project: what you see is what you get, but ‘what it means’ is far less certain. Following sold-out headline dates earlier this year, he supported Penelope Isles on their April tour, and performed a special one-off Cinematic improv show at The Ivy House on July 28th.
Joined by the full band, later this summer Bingo Fury will be playing Green Man and End Of The Road Festival, followed by a co-headline tour with Robbie & Mona in October.
