Intro

Hailing from South West London, Automan guitarist Huw and vocalist/ drummer Freddie met at primary school, a lifelong friendship formed aged 9 when the two were placed next to each other on an alphabetical seating plan. Bassist Oscar joined the project two years ago to complete the three-piece. 

The trio bring a swirling psychedelic rock sound on their new single 'Are You Happy Without Me?', anthemic chorus sections and heartfelt lyricism melds with something more experimental, darker and primal.

About 'Are You Happy Without Me?'

The chorus of 'Are You Happy Without Me?' bounces in a reflective euphoria, born from the tight-knit writing sessions of Huw (guitar) and Freddie (vocals/ drums) but destined for collective audience singalongs, with nods to indie heavyweights Pulp and Blur, or the raw and youthful energy of more contemporary artists such as Shame.  

As the trio gather pace, the final chorus and outro feels like a rush of blood to the head, with the psychedelic undercurrent carrying the sound into brave and exciting new territory, lyrically soaked in the everyday drama of a hyper-sensitive 21st century existence.

Produced largely by the band with the help of producer Tim Clarke, 'Are You Happy Without Me?' was written initially in about 5 minutes by Huw and Freddie, the lyricism arriving shortly after the line "are you happy without me", with the rest of the song quickly writing itself.
