“How to Repaint Clouds is a collection of remixes of How to Paint Clouds, a single from our recent LP Aftertouch. The lyrics reflect upon the transience of taste and how an artist's feelings toward their work changes over time. When a musician revists their old songs, new interpretations are informed by changing contexts and evolving preferences. Straying from traditional modes of remixes based upon manipulating a song's individual recorded audio tracks, the artists of How to Repaint Clouds were only provided with MIDI files (Multi Instrument Digital Interface) - a digital language that contains harmonic and rhythmic blueprints, but no actual recordings, giving them an unusual freedom from the original material.
Remix artists were given MIDI files of individual instruments to put the digital information through their own synths and drum machines to make a new track.
The remix album is out May 5 and includes an edition of 20 one-of-a-kind AI-cloud painting turntable slipmats
