ABOUT THIS BAND

When rapper and vocalist BUCHANAN met producer and composer Christy Carey, they began trading sketches of tracks and lyrics. Their working process – a burst of creative energy expressed through voice memos, phone calls, text messages, and sporadic recording sessions – reflected the frenzied and fragmented music they made together as AV Dummy. AV Dummy's music is a Frankenstein's monster of ideas. Sonically, Carey provides a post-genre mash-up: You might hear the piercing sub-bass of a club banger, the heavy riffage of hard rock, the ice-cold beats of UK drill, the intricate percussion of jazz, or the metallic clunk of electro-punk – often, together on one song. Lyrically and vocally: BUCHANAN symbiotically reflects the schizophrenic music with his agitated voice, dissecting the contemporary moment through a fractured lens as he explores consumerism, surveillance culture, urban decay, globalisation, racism and political disenchantment.
