London’s high-volume newcomers test plan released their debut single ‘So Bored at Your
Squat Rave’ on 15th September.
Recorded and mixed by Darren Jones (Fat Dog, The Fall, Gorillaz) at the band’s own
practice space in north-east London, ‘So Bored At Your Squat Rave’ details a narrative of
a disenfranchised outsider grappling with anger and alienation within their surroundings.
Loaded with high stamina dance beats, serrated scuzz bass, darting guitar screams and
enraged vocals, the track weaves a dark concoction of dissatisfaction and paranoia, as
drummer/vocalist Max Mason explains: “This song explores a character angry at the
environment around them, the people, the drugs and how they feel. The ‘Squat Rave’
serves as a metaphorical vessel in the lyrics as a means for the character to
direct their fear and anger.”
Cultivating a incisive collision of coruscating noise-rock, monochrome psychedelia, and
incendiary post-punk, the band have already established their presence on the London
grassroots circuit, earning support slots with the likes of Average Life Complaints, Blind
Delon, Freddy Murky and Bo Gritz.
