maxime. is a self-released (in partnership with Artists Without a Label: “AWAL”), -published, -produced and -engineered artist who makes music from his bedroom – in an apartment in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie neighbourhood of Montreal.
His left-of-centre music is experimental and genre-blending but retains infectious pop sensibilities: its instruments are lush; its sonic polish is colourful and distinctive. maxime. previously released electronic music under a different alias before rebranding as maxime. and incorporating his own vocals and classical guitar training from his youth into his music.
maxime. released his debut, whatevernowiscalled – an expansive, 18-track LP whose soundscapes capture his cross-genre appeal – in 2019; the album has since recorded 15M+ streams globally. Its follow-up, cerulean (December, 2020), saw him taking risks and finding himself, sonically, the former producer bringing his songwriting to the foreground.
He relocated from Ottawa to Montreal in 2021, releasing a pair of 5-track EPs, telephone wires (November, 2021) and rubber checks (August, 2022). April 14, maxime. releases the 6-track EP mile end (kiss ur friends), a project featuring some of his boldest work to date.
