If you’re lucky enough to be someone who falls in love once and then be with that person forever, good on you. However, most of us probably don’t fall in love once a lifetime…

Love exists within multiple disguises and it is always changing, so perhaps it’s unrealistic to assume we may be able to sustain one love for the entirety of our lives. Humanity is only just beginning to explore the freedom of being allowed to feel the feelings we truly feel and express our love in ways that in the past have been grossly oppressed.

This Valentine's day I thought it would be great to release a cover of Lovesong as a reminder that real love is more about the way a person makes us feel about ourselves “Whenever I’m alone with you, you make me feel like I am young/clean/fun/whole again” than anything else. It’s a reminder that it’s ok to not fit into society’s picture perfect love story clichè and that no matter what, love can be found through adversity, heal past trauma and ultimately help us to love ourselves, so we can truly love another.

It’s The Cure’s most underrated song (in my humble opinion) and the interweaving melodies have been etched into my brain since I was a pre-teen. It was so fun to make because the various melodies evoke so much feeling and fit together beautifully like a beautiful/complex puzzle - much like love itself.
