Wylderness hail from Cardiff and create their own brand of woozy sun-drenched pop, wrapped in a wall of stabbing fuzzy guitars echoing the sounds of Ride, DIIV, Sonic Youth and Yo La Tengo. Their eponymous debut album was championed by Steve Lamacq (BBC 6 Music) and Huw Stephens (BBCR1), featured on BBCR1’s best of BBC Music Introducing playlist, and garnered critical acclaim from Clash, DIY and Drowned in Sound.
Wylderness release second album, Big Plans for a Blue World, in 2022. Featuring an expanded line up and added layers of vintage synths, clarinet and percussion. The album title came to singer Marz in a dream "I had a vivid dream I was at a Bowie concert in the 80's. Bowie walked onstage in a crisp blue suit and said ‘this is a new song, called Big Plans for a Blue World’. The song was in the same vein as Peter Gabriels 'Sledgehammer', not Bowie's greatest work but it had a catchy chorus. After establishing the song didn't exist we knew it was meant to be the album name".
Wylderness are Marz (guitars/vox), Chet (bass/guitars), Phil (drums/percussion), Don (guitars/vox), Hirwaun (clarinet/percussion) and Oli (keys/guitars).
