WOMB is a portal to the cosmos. Raised from the woodlands on a diet of folk and fantasy, the Te Whanganui-a-Tara-via-Illinois three-piece band is formed of Gemini twins Charlotte Forrester (vocals, guitar), Haz Forrester (synth) and their sister Georgette Brown (drums), whose visual art practice has guided the group through their creative evolution over the past decade.
Rooted in folk while exploring the outer boundaries of atmospheric dream-pop, WOMB’s ethereal, genre-transcending music is a vortex of divergent influences enchanted by a supernatural sibling synergy — felt in the cascading screams of melancholia, swells of tenderly caressed guitar, delay-drenched synthscapes and off-kilter percussion. Fleshed out from the twins’ formative songwriting period as acoustic duo Athuzela Brown, WOMB’s transformative lyrics tap into vast worlds of imagery that lure us deep into the dark caverns of the heart with the warmth of a burning flame. Conjuring a magical interplay of sustain and release, the band’s sound is a three-dimensional whole that pushes past the stratosphere in an enthralling expression of sonic self-awareness.
