Nottingham’s Victory Lap announce debut EP ‘Torch Songs’, set for release July 19th, alongside brand new single ‘Sincerely Yours', out today (June 4th).
A melting pot of era-bending golden age sounds, as interpreted from a 21st century perspective of music and film, Victory Lap burst onto the scene in the spring with irresistible debut effort ‘Jealousy’ and have generated plenty of fanfare already. Early support from key press champions DIY Magazine and The Line Of Best Fit, and spins on BBC 6 Music (Emily Pilbeam) have both greeted their arrival on the emerging indie landscape.
With a newly announced debut UK headline tour lined up for December, the new noir infused five-piece will first be hitting the festival circuit this summer, having already ticked off slots with contemporaries including Do Nothing, L’Objectif and Blood Wizard in recent times.
Speaking ahead of their single release, frontman Tomas Ponting explained: “This song details a man and his attempts at creating barriers to protect himself in relationships. Despite his best efforts, his romantic nature finds him falling heedlessly from partner to partner, lubricated by the yarn of a fairy-tale ending he relentlessly spins for himself.”
Victory Lap’s ‘Sincerely Yours’ is out now and available on all digital platforms.
Victory Lap is Tomas Ponting (lead vocals, guitar), James Denham (backing guitar, vocals), Lawrence English (drums), Rory Ford (backing vocals, bass), Jake Cornes (piano)
