The Berlin based collective selected release the third EP via their freshly founded imprint. For this one they are welcoming the newcomer Veleno to their roster, who has compiled four tracks on his „Dusk EP”, including a massive remix by none other than Marcel Fengler.
The EP starts out in true selected fashion – with uncompromising, relentless techno. Veleno implements his no-prisoner-approach right from the beginning. „Dusk” captivates with its rolling bass and hypnotizing synth bells.
Veleno doesn’t take his foot off the gas but rather adds another layer to the record with „Visible”. Instead of the mumbling bass carrying the flow, he creates a straighter sound, including almost ritualistic pads which climb up the invisible ladder but seem to never reach the top.
On „Reflection” sirens are making themselves heard from Berlin to Basel, the cities where Veleno is mutually based. The sounds are both soothing and maddening simultaneously, creating an intriguing bipolar ambience.
For the last track Marcel Fengler gives his interpretation of the title track „Dusk”, putting an old school spin on it. The accentuated bells from the original are replaced by stabby chords, while the moving bassline opens up and lets in another rhythmic, reminiscent of raves and ecstasy – the spirit lives on.
