Hailing from the ever-fertile electronic and experimental Danish underground, Vanessa Amara first came to prominence in 2013 with their debut release on Posh Isolation. The limited-edition cassette only Both of Us brought together a mix of contemporary classical and droning electronics utilizing church organs and ominous synths. Made up of Birk Gjerlufsen Nielsen and Victor Kjellerup Juhl, the experimental duo kept a low profile, delivering their second release, You're Welcome Here, in 2016. This time around, they used an array of instruments to build the album, arranging cellos, violins, and trombones alongside organs. The double-cassette release Like All Mornings came the following year and featured Sebastián Santillana, as the duo moved further into minimalism with just the use of piano loops and feedback. That year they also debuted their live show at Copenhagen's Koncertkirken. The duo returned in 2018 to Posh Isolation for their fourth full-length release, Manos. ~ Rich Wilson, Rovi
