The Imbeciles are an Anglo-American four-piece delivering heavy, messy, anarchic, occasionally violent punk rock madness. The riff-driven music is driven by shouty lyrics and underlined by a strong art aesthetic, which permeates throughout the band’s psychedelic, nightmarish music videos. Oddly, this music mayhem is encompassed by an underlying message of kindness… “Humankind has properly fucked the world by being nasty little fucks, so, in the last decades, why don’t we let try to be a little better than that, before the lights go out forever?” says the band’s founder, Butch Dante. “Be kind, be eccentric, wear the trousers your mates laugh at, be generous, dance like a mad fucking bastard.” The Imbeciles self-titled debut album was recorded on tape in eight deranged days on the Texan-Mexican border. It comprises 13 imploded songs which rarely last more than two minutes. Packed with stripped-down musical information and resonant with jagged atmosphere, the album was hailed by CLASSIC ROCK as “Some kind of Apocalypse Now” (✭✭✭✭). The band has also gained masses of support at radio from BBC 6 Music, Radio X, BBC Radio 1, amongst others.
