MAY 2 - Manchester business-chic duo Super Market release debut EP Shopping List - out now via cult label Heist or Hit.
It’s an effervescent collection - smuggling serious points through off-beat genre-hopping production and lackadaisical delivery. Fully committed to their high-concept bizarro world, there is nonetheless serious songwriting chops underpinning the endeavour.
Josh Super and Jack Market met via a chance encounter at one of the biggest business conferences in the North-West: “if we didn’t capitalise it would simply be bad business”. Subsequently, a new pop-consultancy was registered with the relevant tax authorities - and the start-up began looking for aural investors.
The office-core aesthetic stems from business school first principles - get noticed. Already catching attention around Manchester, they’ve been stopped in the streets on numerous occasions, recognised for their iconic ties and Brit-pop haircuts. Now that’s what I call guerilla marketing.
On the debut product collection, the duo say:
“Shopping List is a six-track project spanning the same number of genres all within twenty-five minutes. Featuring twice the music in half the time, you’d be hard-pressed to find better value elsewhere in the current market.
With many artists’ projects far succeeding the length of the average daily commute, this product was specially designed to follow you on your way to work and have you ready combat the productivity crisis by the time you log in to your office computer.
Shopping List is over-time, over-budget and over-produced, and no matter your taste, we’re sure you’ll find something to love.”
Shopping List by Super Market is out now (May 2nd) via Heist or Hit.
