Stina Stjern is the musical universe of the Norwegian musician and composer Stina Moltu. Her musical expression embraces both jazz, art-pop, and free-improvised experimental music. A recurring theme in all of Stina's work is an examination of humanity and her love of cassette tapes as source of sound. Her latest release, "The Devil" (EP, 2020) is a personal interpretation of the tarot card by the same name. This 4-track release was created in available rooms and passages of free time over a period of two years (2017-2019) and is a result of co-composition and short meetings between Stina and musician and producer Kyrre Laastad. In recent years, Stina has been working closely with the Norwegian artist Susanna. In Susanna's project “Brotherhood of our Lady” Stina plays guitar and cassette tapes. The unique texture of the cassette tape was also included in the concert performance "Susanna, Baudelaire & Piano" at Henie Onstad Art Center in 2020. Here Stina composed several works for cassette tape and walkman which were performed live in collaboration with Susanna's compositions. In 2022, Stina Stjern's cassette compositions are curated to be a part of Susanna's album «Elevation». This release takes the inspiration from Baudelaire's work further and is also a musical dialogue between the artists Susanna, Stina Stjern and French Delphine Dora. Stina is also a part of Oslo's coolest impro-collective, DNA?AND?.
