“Bristol quintet Stay Lunar get their next release on SAM Records today with the feather-light 'Hello Friend', a scintillating single that swiftly follows 'Immediately' and reaffirms the band as one to watch for fans of indie and dream pop.” - Gigwise
“A breakout success that have taken to new heights’” - CLOUT Magazine
“Futurist Pop with cinematic vision” - Fresh On The Net, BBC 6 Music
Stay Lunar are back with a fresh sound, new year, new them and sticking true to form a new banger. Whilst I like it when you're around is laced with the sound of Stay Lunar from before, the track is no doubt a heavier take.
2022 saw the band make some in-roads with the release of their debut EP and live shows supporting Fickle Friends, SPINN as well as a headline show to round it all off.
Late last year, the band recorded a handful of tracks at Giant Wafer in Wales with producer Alex Quinn (Bandit, Royston Club, Overpass) to create a sound that was deep rooted in what we've come to expect from them but with a fresh take.
Anthemic and emotive all the same, the song follows a well-trodden path that all great singles do.
Of the track, singer Harry Leigh said: "'I like it when you're around' is essentially a love song for friends, and how having them around during tough times makes everything easier. It can be hard to tell people that you need some company during a difficult period mentally, and this song was written while feeling that."
Closing 2022 one band and starting 2023 feeling like a new one is so typical of a band as meticulous as Stay Lunar, everything is done for a reason.
Their songs have also been given airings across BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio (Charlie Ashcroft & Shell Zenner) and even Robert Carlyle of 51st State, Trainspotting and The Full Monty
With huge support coming from Spotify with adds to their Indie Pop playlist (1.5 M followers), Hot New Bands and Fresh Finds:
Rock playlist whilst Hotel Chocolate and Starbucks gave the band some love via their in-store playlists.
I like it when you're around is the start of a big year for Stay Lunar, and it's good to have them around.
