Sonagi

Sonagi is a four-piece screamo band based in Philadelphia, PA. Coming from shared and distinct creative and industrial paths in basement and warehouse DIY culture, bike messengering, and working class city life, the band formed in the summer of 2019 with Ryann Slauson (vocals), Harim Jung (guitar/vocals), Michael Englisis (Bass), and Keean Mansour (Drums).

After a run of opening show supporting bands including .giffromgod, HIRS, Ostraca, and Supine, Sonagi recorded their first handful of songs for The Cold Promise of Uncertainty, a 4-way split on Middle-Man Record with Obroa-Skai, Indisposed, and screamo veterans Coma Regalia and began writing for their debut LP, Precedent. The album, releasing on Get Better Records in July 2022, captures the dialectical balance between catharsis and introspection in navigating grief and recovery, worker’s remorse, and meditations and confrontations of lineages of colonial violence and trauma in instrumental form and lyrical composition.
