Let me talk you through the “Sister Wanzala Cycle”...
Sister Wanzala releases a song, or an EP.
Shortly after the release, the band has a fall out and split up.
The band then don’t speak to each other for two years, other than at Christmas and other religious holidays when they have to because, as you know, they are brothers
Patrick (oldest brother /guitar / lead singer) spends the time recording very expensive solo material that, once finished, he decides is shit and cans bins.
Patrick then texts his brothers Mark (drums & guitar) and Chris (bass) and asks if they fancy having a rehearsal for “old times sake”.
They meet up for a rehearsal and the energy in the room is so bloody nice that they decide to record some new songs and release them - “this time it’ll be different” they pledge.
So, the band spends time writing new songs and rehearsing them before recording, mixing and mastering them in the most expensive way possible.
Finally, they get some great photos taken and upload the songs to MySpace or SoundCloud or Spotify or whatever-the-fuck.
Then they fall out again.
Alas, after the release of their last single “Perfume” (20 May 2022), the brothers in Sister Wanzala fell out and haven’t spoken to each other since.
The “Sister Wanzala Cycle” continues…
However, whilst recording Perfume, the band recorded another song - Top Drawer.
Top Drawer is quite obviously the best song the band has ever recorded.
Therefore, Patrick (who has control of the band’s accounts) is going to release it on 26 August without telling his brothers.
Hopefully they won’t mind, and hopefully - you’ll enjoy Top Drawer as much as I do.
