"It’s quite infectious the energy they give off. I love when artists aren’t afraid to use blueprints from the past, take it apart, piece it all back together to make their own individual sound. And that’s what Pleasureinc do so well.” Radio 1’s Future Artists, Tara Kumar
“Choppy, deeply alternative pop…larger than life” Clash
“dastardly familiar, yet hip-swingingly fresh…rolls up the echoes of early 10’s indie nostalgia inside an urgent, sugary burst of NOW” Hard of Hearing
“a disco-pop slice of sunshine…full of euphoria” God Is In the TV
“danceable, groovy and slick - listening to PleasureInc feels very pleasurable indeed…This is party music, add it to your Sesh Tunez playlist” The Most Radicalist
Accompanying their biggest UK headline tour to date (full list below) genre-bending alt-pop duo PleasureInc. share debut EP Plastic People - out now (17th April).
Mingling the jubilant joys of early 10s ‘B-Town’ indie with their passion for hip hop, dance music, psychedelia, jazz, 2000s comedy and late 90s wrestling, the Plastic People EP offers up a diverse four-song set of ebullient, dance-bitten pop that feels impossible to resist; from the disco-fuelled satires of title track 'Plastic People', to the intoxicating drug-induced paranoia of ‘2:45’
Recorded at East London’s Strongroom Studios with producer Iggy B (Spiritualized, Gary Numan, Lost Horizons, Ciel), one half of Pleasureinc, Kenny Pleasures, offers further insight into the EP:
"This EP really covers a lot of the bases that make up what we do as PleasureInc. The whole point of starting this project was to get away from the tropes of mundane indie rock and gloomy post punk, and make something that’ll get you up to shake ya booty. We want to lean into our pop-yness, but always with a weird funny edge. We spend our lives taking the piss out of each other, and ourselves, and it makes its way into everything we do. The world is too serious at times, hopefully we can be a moment of respite."
Founded in 2021 by brothers Jonny Silver and Kenny Pleasures in Norwich (UK), PleasureInc. (supported by their backing band, The Goons) sold out shows in Norwich, Brighton and London before releasing their first single. Announcing their debut EP in February, the band since earnt the backing from BBC Radio 1 (Future Artists), BBC Radio 6 Music (Amy Lamé), God Is In the TV, Hard of Hearing, The Most Radicalist, Scientists of Sound and Wax Music. This follows support slots in 2023 for Swim Deep, Sundara Karma, LIFE, Youth Sector and Joey Valence, and early support from Clash, Wonderland, Earmilk, Mystic Sons and BBC Introducing.
