‘Yours’ is a ballad of belonging. It’s about appreciating how lucky you are to find someone who understands you, someone who loves you despite your flaws and shortcomings. It’s about recognising that even if the relationship is to end, you were lucky to have shared your life with them for a time. It will always have been worth it despite the pain. The song recognises that things don’t always go to plan and asks us not to be bitter. Though it might be over, it still meant something and it always will. Sonically, the song takes inspiration from both indie music and the stylistic tendencies of 80s love ballads.
