Nottingham psych-pop experts Midnight Rodeo share shimmering new cut ‘Thank You For Your Time’, out today (October 12th) via FatCat Records (Honeyblood, The Twilight Sad, We Were Promised Jetpacks).
Marking their first release of the year, ‘Thank You For Your Time’ represents a slight departure from the band’s thus far signature West Coast psychedelic stylings as they continue to diversify their sound. The song lurches in on all fours, with a thunderous rhythm and a smokescreen of dense, resonant feedback and enigmatic synth - more reminiscent of modern Aussie Psychedelic Rock than euphoric 60’s Californication.
Speaking ahead of its release, enigmatic frontwoman Maddy Chamberlain explained: “It’s about standing in solidarity with everyone that’s ever had to serve a piss-drunk stag party at a nightclub, suffered the cringe-inducing pantomime of a sales job or endured the eye-rolling shenanigans of a David Brent-esque line manager. It’s a vindicating dedication to the under-appreciated junior staff member. Think ‘9 to 5’ if Dolly Parton had a fuzz pedal.
With a relentless touring schedule in recent times, 2023 has seen them tour with Deja Vega, alongside multiple headline dates, as well as delving into the UK festival circuit (The Great Escape, Dot To Dot). Now recording their debut album slated for release next year, ‘Thank You for Your Time’ will be supported with a 17-date UK and European tour this winter, and follows early praise from the likes of So Young Magazine, Brooklyn Vegan, Clash, The Independent, Rough Trade and Under The Radar.
Midnight Rodeo’s ‘Thank You For Your Time’ is out now via Fat Cat Records and available on all digital platforms.
Midnight Rodeo is Maddy Chamberlain (vocals, tambourine), James McBride (guitar, vocals), William Crumpton (guitar, vocals), Harry Taylor (bass), Ferg Moran (drums)
