South London’s Margot came into existence after five friends finally put into action their frequented drunken discussions about merging into one musical project. Their respective music bands were put on the backburner and after long deliberation, Margot was formed. The first jovial rehearsals resulted in a collection of songs that were released at a steady pace over the year of 2018, interspersed with pockets of performances around London and Bristol.
Led by frontman Alex Hannaway’s soft vocal hues and arresting lyrical style, the band employ a DIY ethic, self-producing their recordings in their Peckham-based home studio. Continuing to release singles in 2019, they combine a nuanced blend of dream-pop, neo-psychedelia and jangle-guitar. Aligning eclectic influences, the band draw from hazy indie-rock guitar bands such as Real Estate, The War on Drugs, Beach House to British New Wave and post-punk. At the very end of 2019 Margot embarked on a UK tour with Swimming Tapes.
Margot's debut 7" for record label Full Time Hobby is out now and includes the singles Walk With Me and Falling In Between Days, available to buy here: https://margotbanduk.bandcamp.com/album/walk-with-me-falling-in-between-days
