“something a little bit special” - Gary Crowley, BBC Radio London |
Hailing from Southend, Essex, but currently based in South-West London, 21-year old Leo Walrus has been writing songs since the age of 13. Absorbing music far and wide - from King Krule to the Clash, Steve Lacy to Arthur Lee - he has cultivated a distinctive flair for indie, dream-folk and neo-soul. Following London performances at the likes of The Troubadour and The Cavendish Arms, Leo’s latest single ‘Up Somewhere’ stands alone as a honey-sweet jangle-pop delight. Rivalling the likes of Honeyglaze and Aztec Camera with its halcyon, heart-ache innocence, the single shines most brightly for Walrus’, folky charismatic vocal - gravelly and timeless like that of a classic 60s chanteur. ‘Up Somewhere’ comes hot on the heels of debut ‘Creeper Star’ - which received fulsome praise from BBC Radio London’s Gary Crowley. |
