Dream Corolla is a shimmering collage of field recordings, jazz samples and synthesis from Naarm/Melbourne artist and library worker Lee Hannah. The four tracks are patient explorations, touching on influences from the environmental music stylings of Hiroshi Yoshimura to the sample-based ambience of Susumu Yokota.
“There was something cathartic about exploring and field recording in the neighbourhoods I’d previously unexplored in my 5km radius. Some of the recordings I used, some of them I didn’t, but nonetheless I know truly that just the process of me getting in my wagon and searching was such a huge part of what got me through a really rough six months. I was trying to make something beautiful out of something bleak, but the beauty I was looking for was in the process of driving around. While I’m hardly a car person, it just feels fitting to name this release after my dreamy 2001 Toyota Corolla”
Dream Corolla will be released digitally on November 10th.
This work was made on land rightfully owned by the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. Always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
