Kent punk purveyors Lady Bird release new single ‘Bludsuckers’ today as the final preview of debut album ‘WE’, set for release February 25th via Alcopop! Records (Pulled Apart By Horses, The Subways, Tigercub).
‘Bludsuckers’ follows previous singles ‘Factory Fool’ and ‘Infants’ in showcasing the trio’s infectiously thrilling approach. They combine deep-thinking self-awareness and heart-on-sleeve vulnerability with a bouncy, raw signature sound. Specifically outlining the themes around the new release they explain:
“Bludsuckers is a mild rant which offers guidance to victims who fall prey to emotional drainers. Bludsuckers are energy zappers who allow themselves to drain the support of their peers and offer very little in return.”
Teaming up with cult indie label Alcopop! for their first full-length outing, ‘WE’ embodies the essence of the three individuals that make up the band, demonstrating the collective creativity and spark that ignites when they combine to make music. A celebration of survival and life, the record also captures the turbulence of the time that led up to its creation, the emotions induced and the strong sense of brotherhood and friendship that got them through it all.
Marking the follow-up to 2020 EP ‘BRAINWASH MACHINE SETTING’, which captured the imagination of key indie press champions (DIY, Dork, Clash, Gigwise, So Young, The Independent), as well as extended airplay on both BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music, it’s clear the band’s place within the contemporary punk scene is developing at an impressive rate, with a full UK tour already lined up to coincide with their February album release.
Lady Bird’s new single ‘Bludsuckers’ is out now. It precedes debut album ‘WE’ - out February 25th via Alcopop! Records which will be available across all digital platforms.
