Acclaimed Anglo-French avant-garde Electronic artist Julia-Sophie has released 'forgive too slow,’ her debut solo album. This haunting work of Glitchy Dream Pop features the “numb,” “telephone,“ and “wishful thinking” singles, as well as "i was only" (featuring Noah Yorke).
The weird and winding journey to this debut has included touring the world as a major label artist while fronting Little Fish (with whom she played with Blondie, Courtney Love, IDLES, and Juliette Lewis), recording film scores as a member of Candy Says, co-founding the Beanie Tapes label, releasing solo EPs on Third Kind Records and Beat Palace Records, and motherhood.
The album is about relationships and what happens when we “forgive too slow” and can’t break out of patterns from the past. The songs narrate her story of self-destruction (“numb”), love (“falling”), and loss (“telephone”). By the end, embers are still burning and there is no telling if Julia-Sophie has found peace, but we do get a sense that she has gotten closer to the core of her being and is finally living authentically.
'forgive too slow' is available now on baby blue vinyl via Brooklyn's Ba Da Bing Records.
Julia-Sophie will play a launch show for ‘forgive too slow’ in London on July 31st (with Maria Uzor), in addition to a set at Truck Festival on July 27th, and an in-store performance at Truck Music in Oxford on August 1st.
Artist Quote for 'forgive too slow':
“My journey with music has been weird and long. I think people assumed that the music I made was exactly what I intended to make, when it’s always just been me trying to figure it out. Being a solo artist has allowed me to really find myself and show who I am in all my messy states.” – Julia-Sophie"
