Jaws The Shark shares venomous new cut ‘That Feeling’, arriving today (September 23rd) via So Recordings (Deaf Havana, Enter Shikari, Placebo).
The unique solo project of Londoner Olly Bailey, Jaws The Shark came out of the blocks fast in 2020 with killer garage rock anthem ‘Demon Dream’, with the project receiving significant support from key indie press champions such as Dork, The Independent, Rough Trade and Gigwise, as well as a glut of plays on the BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders) and BBC 6 Music (Shaun Keaveny, Huw Stephens) airwaves. The release of debut EP ‘Another Day In Paradise’ via cult indie label Nice Swan Records followed in 2021 alongside nationwide festival slots and support shows with the likes of Dinosaur Pile-Up, The Maine and The Wytches, putting Jaws The Shark in front of a wider audience. Now signed to So Recordings, a follow-up EP is imminent, with ‘That Feeling’ marking the second reveal from the record and the follow-up to lead single ‘Destroy The World’, a collaboration with Dinosaur Pile-Up released late August.
Detailing his newest effort, the alt-rocker revealed: “I wrote this song in a different way to how I usually would. The music came first but I was going through a creative slump and just couldn’t come up with a melody or lyrics. Sometime later I remember walking through a park near my flat, just listening back to the instrumental part and suddenly having the idea to write about the fact that I had writer's block and so the song became about that. It was like I'd been in a dark room and finally found the light switch. From then on I just wrote about the things I'd been doing to try and get over that hurdle and it all flowed from there. I really love the pace of it, it's frantic as hell and the final version has come out sounding really muscular, which I have to credit my producer Larry (Hibbitt) for. He got the vibe of the track immediately and knew exactly where it needed to go musically.”
Produced by Larry Hibbitt (Nothing but Thieves, Don Broco, Sea Girls), Jaws The Shark’s ‘That Feeling’ is out now via So Recordings and available on all digital platforms.
