Jabru is the Exeter “producer’s producer” who has had a hand in collaborations with everyone from Zed Bias and Joel Culpepper to Optimo, Hackman, Huxley, Roots Manuva and the BBC’s legendary Radiophonic Workshop. An artist who tends to let his music do most of the talking, Jabru has worked as a producer and DJ for the best part of two decades helping sculpt soulful, intricately woven beats across a myriad of genres that have arguably challenged and brought the best out of vocalists as diverse as contemporary soul hero Joel Culpepper, MC and poet Joshua Idehen and most recently the rapidly ascending Northampton MC FFSYTHO?! Jabru returns to the leftfield beats label Purple City to pick up where his debut studio album Ill Conceived, which received glowing reviews and support from Andrew Weatherall and BBC 6Music’s Tom Ravenscroft (to name a couple), left off for FFSJABS, a collaborative EP with the aforementioned vocalist FFSYTHO?! that will truly show how diverse her approach can be, navigating Jabru beats that synthesise in his trademark style elements of every era of music that ever had a groove, to form totally contemporary landscapes for a young MC to navigate and also features a star-studded cast of supporting players including UK soul royalty Alice Russell, Mara Carlyle, Space Dimension Controller on guitar, and the Gentleman's Dub Club horn section.
