ABOUT THIS BAND

Girl and Girl are Kai James, his Aunty Liss on drums, longtime friend Jayden Williams on guitar and bassist Fraser Bell. They recently signed a global deal with Sub Pop Records, who released their latest single, All I See in April and reissued their Divorce EP in June.

Hailing from Brisbane, the four-piece garage rock outfit has a special kinship that shines through in their music and in their electric live shows — Kai’s magnetism backed by Liss’ 37 years of drumming experience. With undeniable hooks and surprising emotional intensity, this multi-generational outfit leaves everything on the stage.

After winning the inaugural Gold Coast Music Prize, Girl and Girl became one of the hottest buzz acts at Australia’s 2022 Bigsound Music Conference. The band supported Dry Cleaning on a national tour of Australia before embarking on a debut European Tour including showcase performances at The Great Escape, support dates with Blondshell and an appearance at London’s uber hip Wide Awake Festival.

The Divorce EP was 4ZZZ’s Album of the Week and received support from community radio stations across Australia including the RTRFM Soundscape, 2SER and Edge Radio playlists and the RRR Soundscape in Melbourne. In the US, 'Dance Now' was added to playlists across the non-commercial radio spectrum and hit #71 on the college radio charts, and had debut spins on Matt Wilkinson's Apple Music show and London’s Reprazent Radio in London.
