It’s a thrilling ride.
While the bluster that comes with self-describing as “the best band since Oasis” is of levels even Liam G would find impressive, it’s also a statement that shows an obvious and tangible level of ambition.
Tacoma, WA-based indie rock four-piece Enumclaw's anticipated debut LP is finally out this week. Save The Baby was produced by Gabe Wax and is available Friday, October 14, via Luminelle (pre-order it on vinyl). Lead singer Aramis Johnson's heartfelt and powerful lyrics and vocals are buoyed by the discerning indie sound of guitarist Nathan Cornell, drummer Ladaniel Gipson, and bassist Eli Edwards (Aramis's younger brother). Their first singles only came out in 2021, but they're a band who already know what sound they're trying to make.
Whether Enumclaw will hit the wide appeal to bring them from Tacoma Washington to stadiums remains to be seen. But what Save The Baby does best is show that they’re a band worth cheering on. Their combination of simple and sweet lyricism, bleary infectious melodies, and effortless charm is the pristine ideal of the everyman rock band. They feel like the perfect underdogs and everyone loves an underdog story. Give Save The Baby a try and you’ll want to see them filling stadiums too.
With Save The Baby, Enumclaw admirably shoot their shot and I have nothing but respect for the self-belief that it’s taken.
