Denh Izen is the project of 17 year old Londoner, Tavish JW Westwood. Deeply embedded in the London guitar-band resurgence, Denh Izen is one of Westwood’s numerous aliases, which cross from UK garage to ambient dreamscapes. As Denh Izen he is a crooner, singing over grungey yet delicate guitar lines, cigarette in one hand, tinny in the other.
There is a youthful existential angst at the heart of his music, but Westwood’s voice and self-assured songwriting are arrestingly mature. In Denh Izen, introverted bedroom slowcore meets Sinatra-esque charisma, and growling noise guitars sit shoulder-to-shoulder with sardonic, polyrhythmic ballads.
