Bad Boys Go to Heaven is a tale of a girl stuck in the shackles of who she is versus what men want her to be. It’s about watching boys get away with crashing their cars, harassing women, and punching people with no repercussions to their reputations, while girls wither away for the smallest of slip ups.
I wrote this song reflecting on my own experiences in life as well as second hand experiences from growing up in an ex-steel town. Being a woman or any gender nonconforming person could make you feel like a ghost. Sometimes I felt like I was screaming into a wall.
I finished writing this one night, sitting on the floor, thinking about how members of my family and my friends may no longer have access to reproductive healthcare or gender affirming care simply for not being a cis male.
