"Soaring, fierce and on-point"
- Record Collector
Landing as the first bit of new music from BERRIES since their punchy debut album ‘How We Function’, “Control” continues the same craggy and contagious energy the trio have become best known for.
"Control" is quintessentially BERRIES, filled with jagged guitar lines and noise-driven choruses that see layers of instrumentals wriggle and writhe amongst melodic vocals. The band explain:
“Control” is about channelling inner strength to survive the inevitable dark moments of life. To take control and push on with meaning, or to spiral into nothingness.”
Released last year to glowing reviews, BERRIES' debut album ‘How We Function’ blends distinctive garage rock melodies interwoven with uplifting messages about what it takes to overcome mental health struggles. Gaining praise from the likes of Record Collector, The List and The Crack, the album was awarded four out of five stars by Louder Than War who dubbed it “a really well put together debut album that rocks hard and gets its message across succinctly, with a bristling beat and an intelligence that it takes some bands a few albums to achieve”. The band also delivered an exhilarating Radio X Session on John Kennedy’s show.
BERRIES have also recently completed an extensive year of touring, playing a run of shows across Europe with The Subways, as well as UK dates with both Jim Bob and label-mates Skinny Lister in the UK. Showing no signs of slowing down, “Control” also arrives as the band prepare for their own headline tour later this month. The five-date run will kick off in Nottingham on 27 March, with further stops in Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, and London.
