Renowned for her unique blend of quirky, piano-forward indie folk, Anna McClellan returns with three new singles, "Jam the Phones," "Hold You Close," & "Like a Painting." Her emotionally rich sound resonates with the complexity of artists like Jon Brion, Sidney Gish, and Lomelda, inviting listeners to turn vulnerability into strength. The now Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter reconnected with long-time collaborator Ryan McKeever and Another Recording Company Studios (Omaha, NE) engineer Adam Roberts to produce the new material.
“Like a Painting is really three songs interwoven over the course of the year I took to write it,” McClellan explains. “I wanted the final product to feel thoughtfully composed and flirty at the same time. It's about growing in confidence and embracing sensuality.” The song's journey mirrors a confident stride, until its climactic breakdown cascades like a waterfall, revealing the turbulent undercurrents of a relationship laid bare. "Hold You Close" was composed in the quietude of her Omaha bedroom, the song reflects the ache of missing friends scattered afar. The haunting melody of "Jam the Phones" underscores a message of both individual and collective resilience. Written against the backdrop of social unrest, it serves as a rallying cry, evoking a world where vulnerability is rebellion and intimacy defiance.
