The universality of pop music can mean different things to different people. For Berlin native musician and producer Albertine Sarges it’s a vessel for self-exploration and growth. New single ‘Friendship’ marks the next stage in Albertine Sarges’ musical journey. It expands her world as she experiments with vocals and blends different styles to create a unique sonic palette. It’s a strangely beautiful, bluesy and deeply emotional re-introduction that shows off the daring artistic approach of Albertine and sets the scene for more to come later this year. Albertine Sarges has been working on the follow-up to her critically-acclaimed album ‘The Sticky Fingers’. Released in 2021 it became a cult favourite and an album of self-exploration that took in feminist theory, musings on bisexuality, gender stereotypes, depression and mental health, whilst wrapping it in post-punk and kaleidoscopic dream-pop, quiet-loud guitar squall and Merrill Garbus-reminiscent vocal acrobatics. On stage, AS and her band take the audience through a surprising journey with twists and turns, displaying an insatiable mix of avant-garde pop, weird folk and magical flute. Albertine has previously worked with Holly Herndon, Colin Self, Metronomy and Cassandra Jenkins whilst being part of Italian synthwave duo Ostia.
